Dearest Tepper
Dearest Tepper,
As we approach the end of this three-year expedition, I find myself thinking back to that day at the end of August when we met. After the first five minutes of the first class, I was certain you were way out of my league. You came on so strong and I was convinced you were wrong for me in just about every way possible. I seriously considered never seeing you again. But, you kept up the hot pursuit. And, really, how could I not entertain it?
I know I flitted with the ideas of Gurobi and that hard working plant manager in Poughkeepsie the first couple of minis. But, if I'm being honest: Gurobi has nothing on your engine – and the plant manager, though hard working, has no profit-maximizing output. The truth is, you're all of that and more, and I knew after making it through that trying first year with you that we really had something special.
First, I know I can count on you. You’ve always been there for me – on weekend afternoons, weekday evenings, vacations, and sick days. We've worked through every long, cold, dark night together. As I wrote about previously, one of the hallmarks of a great relationship is that you always show up for each other. Even when it’s hard. I think we’ve got that in spades.
Second, even when we weren't together over holiday and spring breaks, I couldn't stop thinking about you. I've lost so much sleep over you that I've resorted to retinol products for my dark circles. That Snapchat beauty filter really isn't doing the job anymore. And while it sounds like I am complaining, I know that it's all going to be worth it in the end. This and the retinol, of course.
Finally, as they say on the Bachelor, I can't imagine my future without you. Now, don't go pullin' an Arie on me for some blonde chick. Since graduation is coming up in, oh, 65 days, and we’ve grown so very close, we have a lot to talk about and some big decisions to make.
To start, I want to make sure that you're open to trying new things – such as hobbies that don't involve Excel or Google Drive PPTs, vacations more than one business day long, and upping the budget on the wine fund. Now, I know I only took one finance class, but I did a pro-forma income statement for the next 35 years and based on my expert calculations – and they are "expert", just don't pay any attention to the grade behind the SIO curtain – we can definitely afford it.
Let me know when you're free to chat and I'll send a meeting invite. We can meet in my Vidyo room. Eastern time.
with love,
KB
