I promise
J,
I was looking forward to making today, June 20 - the summer solstice - our first day as husband and wife. June is full of so many firsts for us - our first date, our first kiss, my first ride in your brand new Tesla, your first time meeting Indy and Leia... June is also my parents' wedding anniversary (40 years tomorrow!), Father's Day, and your dad's birthday. We were all supposed to be together this weekend - celebrating our new marriage, a mature marriage that I look up to so much, and our dads.
The powers that be may have other plans for us, but not even a pandemic or leaping into 90+ days of quarantine and strange schedules changes the fact that I am so honored to become your wife...to get to explore all of the years ahead with you and make memories that we can look back on together with our family is truly the honor of a lifetime. And it does not change my vows, my solemn promises, to you either, whether I say them today, or officially on our new date.
J, I promise to continue to give you all of my heart and all of my soul...all of me...the real thing...every day - the easy days, the hard days, the new first days, and all of the days in between.
I promise that I will continue to show up for you - emotionally, physically, intellectually, socially, and spiritually - respectfully and with sincerity - Even when we have to make tough decisions. Even when I am angry or hurt, or when you are. Even when you are not healthy. Even when our future children and families compete for our attention.
I promise that you are, we are, our marriage will be... my priority.
I promise that, "come what may, I will love you until my dying day."
Ti amo,
Always,
K
