Today is a “just us” moment - one of those moments that we cradle between each other. A part of our story that only we know...how our hands will touch, the words we will say to each other...just our heartbeats...a part of us that I will cherish forever alongside all the other “just moments” that we have had, that are yet to be.   

Today is our day. I know it was not our Plan A or even our Plan B. But, among the heartbreak, the calamity, and the weariness of all that is 2020, there is you...the joy you bring to my life, the peace I feel with you by my side, and the thrill of knowing I get to do it all with you. And not a day goes by where I am not grateful for you, your love, or what we have together - what a gift! 

A part of me delights in only having to share today with you. Even if that is selfish. The other part of me wishes our families were here. Next year, I hope we can recreate our day for them, the way we wanted to...new moments for memories. 

In ten years, I hope we have bought our dream house and are calling it “home”. I hope our kids are playing in the pool outside and laughing while we cook on the patio. I hope we are hosting family for holidays. I hope we are still having date night and indulging in our favorite wine. I hope we have taken vacations as a family and vacations as a couple. I hope we made dreams - yours, mine, and ours, big and small - come true. 

In twenty, thirty more years, I hope we look back on all of these moments and remember today...and that we built those years between our hands, our words, our heartbeats... 

I know there will be painful, stressful, discouraging moments too. I know statistics are not on our side - you know the math. But, I believe we will beat the odds. Because, there is you. And I love you. And I will love you until my last heartbeat.
